Biography:

Abigail Corbin is the Clinical Manager of the Family Newborn Care Unit at IWK Health in Halifax, Nova Scotia. With a background as a registered midwife and healthcare leader, Abigail brings a deep commitment to collaborative, patient-centered care. Prior to joining IWK, she served as Patient Care Manager at Oak Valley Health, where she led Canada’s first Alongside Midwifery Unit and oversaw both Adult and Paediatric Diabetes Programs.

Abigail is also an Instructor in the undergraduate and graduate Midwifery programs at McMaster University and a Adjunct Scientist at the McMaster Midwifery Research Centre. Her research focuses on midwifery leadership, exploring the roles, barriers, and enablers that shape the profession’s future.

Known for her strategic thinking and passion for innovation, Abigail has successfully developed and expanded programs that improve access to care, support interprofessional collaboration, and respond to community needs. She is deeply invested in mentoring emerging leaders and building strong, inclusive teams that reflect the values of equity and excellence in healthcare.
